Travis Senter awarded victory in USCS 600 final at Tennessee National Raceway
Hohenwald, TN – March 16, 2013 - Travis Senter from Osceola, Arkansas, who won the www.rockauto.com USCS 600 Sprint Car Series main event on Friday night, was awarded the victory in the www.rockauto.com USCS 600 Sprint Car Series “Tennessee 200” winged mini sprint finale on Saturday night at Tennessee National Raceway. Senter’s win came after defending and two-time series Champion Bobby Zaiontz from Columbus, Mississippi led the field to the finish line but came up light at the scales.
Zaiontz who started outside the front row next to K&N Filters Pole Position starter Hayden Martin from Olive Branch, Mississippi, raced into the lead in turn one of the first lap. With Senter in the runner-up position by the time lap one was complete, the two leaders then raced away from the balance of the field in the caution-free event. Zaiontz led every lap over the previous night’s winner.
The defending Champion (Zaiontz) went to victory lane for the photo ops, while Senter, young gun Hayden Martin who passed Mike Ward from Santa Rosa Beach, Florida for the third position on the final lap, Ward in fourth place and Rookie of the Year contender, Brandon Taylor from Cumming, Georgia all went to the scales.
After Zaiontz’s visit to the www.rockauto.com USCS victory lane he followed the other members of the top five to the scales where, after several attempts to make weight his car just didn’t. He was unfortunately penalized for the violation and the finish was adjusted to place Senter in the first position followed by Hayden Martin, Mike Ward, Brandon Taylor and Kyle Carpenter from Baldwyn, Mississippi in the final top five positions.
Travis Senter kicked off the evenings racing action by winning the six-lap Hoosier Race Tire Speed Dash. Zaiontz won the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat. Mike Ward gathered the win in the www.rockauto.com Second Heat. Bob Trapino advanced the most positions in the main event to collect the Wilwood Disc Brakes Hardcharger Award.
The next www.rockauto.com USCS 600 Sprint Car Series event is at Carolina Speedway in Gastonina, North Carolina on Friday, April 12th.
